How rich media is helping hearing-impaired college students

Cutting edge technology is helping to foster education in many ways, including assisting students (and faculty) with disabilities. Gallaudet U., the leading university for deaf and hearing impaired undergraduate students, has been using some special applications of lecture capture system technology to help its students. These applications can be adopted by any institution that serves the hearing impaired. For example, lecture capture video can record the instructor using American Sign Language. The recording can then be modified to add a transcript and/or closed–captions for hearing impaired students to facilitate their review.
