What Will Obama Offer Higher Ed

As the nation looks ahead to the new administration that President-elect Barack Obama is building, the economy, health care, and energy are issues that rightfully will rank high on his to-do list. Higher education has been facing a crisis as well, with institutions caught off guard by the economic downturn and families more concerned than ever about how they can pay for school.

So where would this issue fit in? Alan Dessoff, a regular UB contributor, reports in his On the Hill column that the higher education community probably can look forward to unified positions on policy issues such as student aid, due to Obama's inauguration and an increase in the Democratic majority in Congress.
