It's National Distance Learning Week
Distance learning, which was already growing by leaps and bounds, has received an extra boost in popularity from high gas prices and the weak economy—students of all ages are going online as a way to save money or polish job skills.
In recognition of the importance of this model, the United States Distance Learning Association has declared the week of November 10 through 14 National Distance Learning Week.
In addition to providing educational institutions an opportunity to showcase their distance ed programs, free webinars will also be available. Two that look relevant for college and university leaders are "Global Education" on Monday at 2 pm (EST) and "Going Green" on Friday at 2 pm (EST). Descriptions of all the sessions are available on the NDLW website.
The webinars are being hosted by Elluminate and Wimba (the platform UB uses for its own web seminars).
