New White Paper for Going Green

The sustainability ball is still rolling, as evidenced by Harvard President Drew Faust announcing the university plans to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent by 2016, as well as the fact that 558 leaders have now signed the Presidents Climate Commitment.
To help higher education institutions take their first sustainable steps, Environmental Health & Engineering, an environmental engineering and consulting firm, has released a white paper titled The First (Big) Step to Reducing Your Campus Carbon Footprint, which discusses "retro-commissioning"—the idea of ensuring existing buildings are working at optimal efficiency. The paper can be downloaded here, registration is required.
We covered the related topic of energy usage analysis in the June 2008 issue of the print edition of UB, "Making Cents of Energy Tracking."
